Crysis Remastered: Crytek brings the whole trilogy – without multiplayer. The sparrows were already whistling from the rooftops, now it’s official. Crytek is continuing with the remastered versions of Crysis. And this time there is not just one game, but also the missing parts 2 and 3 as a trilogy.
About two weeks ago there was a sign of life for further Crysis projects, at that time it was still suspected that part 2 might come as a remaster. There is now an official Crysis announcement that includes parts 2 and 3.
Crysis Remastered as a Trilogy for Next-Gen, PC and Switch
On September 18th, 2020 the remaster of Crysis 1 was released, which left mixed feelings. And not only because of the exclusivity at Epic Games, but above all because of technical and content-related decisions. Since then, patches have been released diligently to fix some of the problems.
Now it’s going on with the remasters, which are again being created in cooperation with the porting specialist Saber Interactive for PC (presumably only at Epic for the time being – the original trilogy is available on Steam), consoles and Switch. The “single-player” versions of Crysis 1, Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 will appear in autumn 2021, initially only as a bundle.
Individual versions should also be available in the future. For PS5 and Xbox Series S | X one promises “particularly smooth frame rates”.
According to the press release, the new edition of the franchise is intended primarily to appeal to newbies who are not yet familiar with the history of Crysis. Players travel from the islands of North Korea to New York, where they are known to have to save humanity from a deadly virus.
In the finale, they go on a revenge mission to find out the whole truth about C.E.L.L. to experience. Crysis 2 was released on March 25th, 2011, the latest part, Crysis 3, followed on February 21st, 2013.
The project manager Steffen Halbig says:
We are very pleased to announce the return of the iconic Crysis games in a single bundle, prepared for a new generation of hardware. Every game has been improved not only to look beautiful, but also to play that way – and that on today’s platforms. We want to enable both new players and fans of the first hour to enjoy the classic adventures of Crysis in the best quality to experience again.
