Huawei is well known for its innovations in the smartphone market. Now the Chinese technology manufacturer is probably working on a cell phone display that is on the back of the Huawei cell phone.
Huawei Phone Display: Front & Back
The smartphone manufacturers are constantly working on new functions, more powerful processors, and better cameras. But what often fades into the background are innovations that also have a design-technical effect, such as the foldable models from Samsung. Such innovations have the potential to permanently change smartphones. Could this also be the case with the new cell phone displays?
Even if the foldable smartphones were accepted rather badly than right by the users, there is still a certain spirit of innovation hidden, which can have a positive effect on further smartphone development.
A Second Screen with Stripped-down Functions
The patent concerns a rear cell phone display. It is not intended to be an equivalent screen as on the front, but rather an addition. The photos that emerged show that the display on the back of the Huawei cell phone is integrated just above or below the camera lens. You can see a time display, as reported in Android Headlines.
It is not yet clear which functions the mobile phone display can perform in miniature format. It would be conceivable that – in addition to the time – also incoming messages are displayed. It is also not yet known whether the small screen on the back is a touchscreen; if so, messages could possibly be answered directly via quick reply commands, similar to a smartwatch.
It remains to be seen whether the cell phone display on the back will really come and if so when it will be. A patent does not mean knowing that the new technology will be built.
Another innovation is looming on the Huawei mobile phone display: the sub-display camera. One of the new models from Huawei, the Mate 40 Pro, makes fans rave about it; nevertheless, they also have to shed a tear.
There is also bad news: some Huawei phones are about to end their support.
