Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is The True Sequel to Arkham Knight

If one day Superman starts killing innocents – who should stop him? Well, the Suicide Squad! This is exactly the previously known framework story of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which was announced at the DC FanDome Event 2020. The game comes from Rocksteady, who was also responsible for the Arkham series.

Although the release of the new action-adventure is only planned for 2022, there is already some interesting information about the setting, the connection with the Arkham universe, the optional co-op, and more. We have created an overview for you.

Suicide Squad

In Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the idiosyncratic antihero troop consists of four members: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Boomerang. To clarify, this is not a game based on the DC films, so the characters look different. Take a look at the first cinematic trailer.

For reasons unknown so far, the Justice League is apparently turning the wheel, Superman sizzles a frightened pilot in the first trailer, right in front of the eyes of the Suicide Squad. Even King Shark looks out of the shed in shock.

Most likely the rest of the Justice League is going through the mysterious transformation, so you could come across evil versions of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, and Co. in the game.

Particularly interesting, the game, which is set in Metropolis, is supposed to continue the Arkham universe, which became known with the popular Batman: Arkham series. How exactly, developer Rocksteady has not yet revealed. Studio founder Sefton Hill stated after all that it is actually a shared universe and that “many already known plots in Suicide Squad are continued“. Therefore, it remains questionable whether we will actually meet Batman, who actually also belongs to the Justice League.

The Gameplay

So far there have been no game scenes, the first trailer is just a cinematic video. As part of the unveiling, however, the creators revealed a few first details, it is an action-adventure with an open world. You can play it alone in single-player mode or with friends in co-op, so one to four players are possible.

You have the free choice between the four shown villains and are always on the move as a troop. If you play solo, bots take over the remaining members of the Suicide Squad. You can switch between characters, for example, steer Harley in one section and take over King Shark in the next.

Even More New Games from DC

Also as part of DC FanDome, a new Batman game was announced for 2021. With the not entirely insignificant twist that Batman is already dead in it.
